3- Flexibility & Bend Radius

As I said, R1 hydraulic hoses are weaker due to single-wire steel braiding. However, this property makes the R1 hydraulic hose more flexible. You can bend this hydraulic hose easily and keep using it in tight spaces. Additionally, this hydraulic hose has a smaller bending radius. You can move and bend them tightly together, and they won’t break.

I highly favor R1 hydraulic hoses for ease of installation. Why? That’s because these hoses are very flexible, making them ideal for tight spaces. Their lower bending radius makes them easy to fit even in the most congested spaces. Additionally, R1 hydraulic hoses are very light, which also contributes to their ease of installation.
Conversely, the R2 hydraulic hoses are very challenging to install, especially in tight spaces. The reason is that these hydraulic hoses are very stiff and hard due to the two steel braided wires inside them. Additionally, the R2 hydraulic hoses are heavier, which is another drawback. Remember, even a small installation error can cause these hoses to over-bend and damage them.
6- Cost and Applications
Cost is one of the most significant factors when selecting between R1 and R2 hoses. Interestingly, the R1 hydraulic hoses are cheaper than the R2 hoses. The reason is that these hoses have a single steel wire braiding in the reinforcement layer. So, making these hoses requires less steel, which is expensive.
As a result, the R1 hydraulic hoses are very cost-effective. On the other hand, R2 hydraulic hoses feature two layers of steel wire braids in the middle. This means they require more materials during construction, which increases their cost. The R1 hydraulic hoses are used for low- to medium-pressure applications. The reason is that these hoses are weaker and may break under high pressure.
